Anyone can learn how to play the game at a high level, but only a small percentage will actually do the work. When you watch the great players like Phil Ivey, John Juanda, and Jennifer Harman playing what is going on inside your head? Do you believe these players are the luckiest people in the world or the hardest working poker players? Many poker players set their expectations too high. These players believe they are entitled to poker winnings without putting in the necessary work. Becoming a winning poker player takes some time and effort to learn the strategy. No one wakes up and knows how to play poker. The best poker players are the best because they have made themselves the best.
Poker is no different than any other sport. If you aspire to play basketball like Michael Jordan, you have to practice like Michael Jordan. I think most players fool themselves into believing that luck is not on their side. Most people believe the winning players are lucky while the losing players are unlucky.
