No-Limit Texas Hold'em Poker Strategy - Mistake Free Poker Does Not Exist
A common misconception among amateur players is the belief that one can play perfect poker. Perfect poker simply does not exist. Phil Ivey even admits to making mistakes everyday he sits down to play poker. In order to become a better player, you first have to recognize where you are making mistakes and fix them. You may play AA, KK, QQ, AK and win every hand of that sessions thinking you played perfect. If you really think deeply about the session, you probably made so many mistakes. On one hand you may have made a $50 value bet when your opponent would have actually called a $150 bet. Poker is a game of incomplete information and winning pots does not mean we played perfect. There are always going to be situations where we could have extracted more money from our opponents. Many spots where we could have saved ourselves an extra bet.
There are tons of opportunities where we could have made a bet to pick up an uncontested pot. Maybe we could have bluffed our opponent on the river a couple times. The list of mistakes we make in a given poker session is endless. Poker is a game of relative skill and we don't have to play perfect poker. We simply have to make less mistakes than our opponents. If we make five mistakes every session and our opponent makes ten mistakes every session, we are going to eventually win. It is important to be honest with yourself about your play. Only by recognizing your mistakes will you be able to improve as a player. The player who makes the most mistakes and learns from them will ultimately be the best player in the world. It takes a lot of time and dedication to continue playing after all of those mistakes. Take your game to the next level by recognizing your leaks. If you don't recognize your leaks, your opponents will exploit them every chance they have.
